Wetland
Restoration Program is a voluntary program under
which the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
will restore a wet spot into a more valuable wetland. A restored
wetland is not a farm pond, but a highly productive resource having
one to four feet of water and a diverse mixture of wildlife
habitat.
Wetland
Restoration has a one-time incentive payment of 75% cost-share of
the total cost for the restoration. Land may be offered as a buffer
to the wetland restoration site with a ratio not to exceed 3 to 1.
The buffer around the wetland acts as additional wildlife habitat.
